Frequently Asked Questions
What wax do you use in your candles?
We craft our candles using a blend of high-quality, natural waxes, including soy, beeswax, and coconut wax. Some of our designs also incorporate a premium gel-like wax to achieve unique visual effects, like the “ice cube” look in select collections.
Why do you use soybean wax?
Soy wax is a natural, renewable resource that burns cleanly and slowly. It’s free from toxins and soot, making it safer for your health and home while providing an excellent scent throw.
Why do you use beewax?
Beeswax is known for its air-purifying properties, as it releases negative ions when burned, helping to clear the air. It also has a subtle, natural honey aroma and offers an extended burn time.
What is soft jelly wax, and why do you use it?
Soft jelly wax is a clear, gel-like wax used for decorative purposes, like creating realistic “ice” in our latte-inspired candles. It burns slower than natural waxes, extending the life of the candle while enhancing its aesthetic appeal. It’s always paired with natural waxes for a clean, eco-conscious burn.
Are your candles edible?
While some of our designs, like the coffee-themed candles, may look delicious, they are not edible. They’re made from wax and fragrance oils intended for burning, not consumption. Please keep them out of reach of children and pets.
What types of wick do you use?
We use two types of eco-friendly wicks:
- Cotton wicks, made from pure cotton and sustainable fibers, for a classic, even burn.
- Wooden wicks, which provide a soft crackling sound, adding a cozy, fireside ambiance.
How can I make my candle last longer?
To get the most out of your candle, always trim the wick to1/4 inch before each burn. This prevents soot buildup and ensures an even flame. During the first burn, allow the wax to melt all the way across the surface to prevent tunneling. Avoid burning for more than3-4 hours at a time, and always keep your candle away from drafts and flammable objects.
Do you ship internationally?
We currently ship within Canada and the United States. We hope to expand our shipping options soon to include international destinations. If you'd like to stay updated, join our mailing list for announcements!
Why does my candle have some imperfections?
All of our candles are100% handmade, and slight imperfections — like tiny air bubbles, frosting (a white, chalky look on the wax), or minor variations in color — are completely normal. These are signs of natural wax and hand-pouring processes, not flaws. They don’t affect the candle’s burn or quality; rather, they’re a reminder that each candle is crafted with care, not mass-produced.
Why are there lines around the inside of my jar?
If you notice faint, “scrap-like” lines around the inside of the jar, that’s a common characteristic of soy wax. As soy wax cools and contracts, it can sometimes pull away from the glass, creating a textured appearance. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect the candle’s performance. It’s simply the nature of working with natural materials.
Why is my candle tunneling, and how can I fix it?
Tunneling happens when the wax burns down the middle, leaving wax around the sides. To prevent this, always let the wax melt evenly across the surface during the first burn—this usually takes 2-3 hours. If tunneling has already started, try using a candle warmer to melt the remaining wax evenly.
Why is my candle producing black smoke?
Black smoke usually means the wick is too long. Trim the wick to1/4 inch before each burn to keep the flame clean and even. Also, avoid placing the candle in a drafty area, as this can cause flickering and soot.
Are your candles safe for pets and children?
Yes, our candles are made from high-quality, non-toxic waxes and fragrance oils. However, always burn candles out of reach of children and pets, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
What is your return policy?
While we don’t offer returns or exchanges, we’re happy to provide a replacement or refund if your candle arrives damaged. Just reach out within 30 days of purchase with photos of the issue, and we’ll take care of it.
Do you offer custom candles?
Yes! Our Secret Message Candle is fully customizable. Choose your preferred scent, add a personal message to be revealed as the wax melts, and even include special touches like sparkles. It’s perfect for gifting or a meaningful surprise for yourself. Just leave your details at checkout, and we'll handle the rest.
How should I handle my candle after burning?
Our candles are poured into high-quality glass vessels, but after burning for an extended period, the jar can become very hot to the touch. Please handle your candle carefully and always allow it to cool before moving. We also recommend keeping candles out of reach of small children and pets to ensure safe and enjoyable use.
What is Frosting on Soy Candles?
You may notice a white, crystal-like pattern on the surface or sides of your soy candle—this is called frosting. It’s a natural characteristic of soy wax and a sign of its purity. Frosting does not affect the performance, scent, or burn of your candle. In fact, it’s a reassuring sign that your candle is made with real, natural wax without synthetic additives.
